Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

BuyorMeet (“we”, “us”) operates the local peer-to-peer marketplace at buyormeet.com and the BuyorMeet iOS application. Contact: privacy@buyormeet.com.

2. Information we collect

• Account data: name, email, password hash, profile photo, chosen location.
• Listings & content: item titles, descriptions, photos, price, category, condition you upload.
• Messages: conversations between buyers and sellers (stored to deliver and for safety review).
• Transaction data: order history, transaction status, shipping/pickup details, Stripe transaction IDs. Card numbers are handled directly by Stripe and are never stored on our servers.
• Device data: IP address, browser or device model, OS, crash logs, push tokens for the iOS app.
• Camera, photos & microphone: if you add photos to a listing using your camera or photo library, or send a voice message in chat, the captured media is uploaded to deliver the feature. We do not access your camera, photos, or microphone for any other purpose.
• Location: with your permission, approximate device location is used to show nearby listings and suggest meetup spots. You can change or revoke this in your device settings at any time.
• Usage data: pages viewed, listings tapped, search queries, referrer, coarse geolocation (city-level).

3. How we use it

• Run the marketplace: show local listings, deliver messages, process payments, release escrow.
• Prevent fraud, scams, and abuse, and to investigate disputes.
• Send transactional email (order updates, disputes, password resets) and push notifications.
• Improve the product through aggregated analytics.
• Comply with law (tax reporting, court orders, law-enforcement requests).

We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it with advertisers for cross-site tracking.

4. Who we share data with

• Stripe — processes payments, escrow transfers, seller payouts. See Stripe's privacy policy.
• Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage hosting.
• Vercel — website hosting and edge delivery.
• Apple — iOS push notification delivery (APNs).
• Other users: your public profile name and avatar are visible to buyers and sellers you interact with.

5. Your choices & rights

• Access / correct: edit your profile and listings at any time in Settings.
• Delete your account: in-app “Delete account” permanently removes your account, listings, and messages. You can also email privacy@buyormeet.com.
• Push notifications: disable anytime in iOS Settings → Notifications → BuyorMeet.
• Marketing email: use the unsubscribe link in any message we send.
• California / EU / UK residents: you have the right to access, port, correct, delete, and object to processing of your personal data. Email us to exercise these rights. We will respond within 30 days.

6. Data retention

We keep account data for as long as your account is active. Deleted accounts are removed within 30 days from our primary database and purged from backups on the standard backup-rotation cycle (up to 90 days). Transaction records are retained up to 7 years to meet tax, accounting, and chargeback-defense obligations.

7. Security

We use TLS in transit, Supabase Row Level Security for per-user data isolation, and store payment credentials only with Stripe (PCI-DSS Level 1). No system is perfectly secure — report suspected vulnerabilities to security@buyormeet.com.

8. Children

BuyorMeet is not directed at children under 13 (16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, email privacy@buyormeet.com and we will remove it.

9. International transfers

Our providers (Supabase, Vercel, Stripe) operate in the United States. If you use BuyorMeet from outside the US, your data will be transferred to and processed in the US under standard contractual protections.

10. Changes

Material changes will be announced on this page and, for account holders, via email at least 14 days before they take effect.
