Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of BuyorMeet (the “Service”), operated by BuyorMeet (“we”). By creating an account, listing items, or making purchases, you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility & accounts

You must be 18 years old and able to form a binding contract. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your login secure, and not create duplicate or bot accounts. You are responsible for all activity on your account.

2. Our role

BuyorMeet is a marketplace venue. We are not a party to the sale. Listings are created by users. Buyers and sellers transact directly with one another. We do not guarantee the quality, safety, legality, or accuracy of listings.

3. Prohibited items & conduct

You may not list or transact:

• Illegal drugs, weapons, hazardous materials, stolen goods, or counterfeit products.
• Items that infringe intellectual property or privacy rights.
• Live animals, human remains, or regulated items requiring licenses you don't hold.
• Services that facilitate fraud, money laundering, or circumvention of escrow.

You also agree not to harass, threaten, spam, scrape, reverse-engineer, or disrupt the Service. We may remove listings, suspend accounts, and report to authorities without notice when these rules are violated.

4. Listings & seller obligations

Sellers must accurately describe items, set clear prices, honor agreed-upon terms, and respond to buyer messages in good faith. Once a buyer places a deposit or Buy-Now purchase, the listing is reserved for that buyer unless the transaction is cancelled per these Terms.

5. Payments, escrow & fees

Payments are processed by Stripe. For Buy-Now orders, funds are held in escrow and released to the seller after delivery is confirmed (or after 7 days if the buyer does not respond, subject to disputes). For Reserve orders, buyers place a small refundable deposit and complete the balance at the meetup. A platform fee (currently 8% of the sale price, deducted from the seller's payout) applies to Buy-Now orders. Fees are displayed before you commit. Sellers must onboard to Stripe Connect to receive payouts.

6. Cancellations, refunds & disputes

Expired reservations (48 hours without meetup confirmation) are automatically refunded. Buyers may file a dispute within 7 days of marking an order delivered. Disputes are reviewed by BuyorMeet; funds stay frozen until resolution. Sellers who accept a dispute agree to refund the buyer. Filing false disputes is tracked and may lead to suspension and forfeited deposits.

7. Reviews & user content

You retain ownership of the content you post (photos, listing copy, reviews). You grant BuyorMeet a worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute your content on the Service. Content must not be deceptive, defamatory, obscene, or infringing.

8. Safety & meetups

You are responsible for your own safety when meeting another user. We recommend meeting in public places, bringing a friend, and inspecting items before exchanging money. We do not background-check users.

9. Taxes

Sellers are responsible for reporting and remitting any applicable taxes on their sales.

10. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate your access for violations of these Terms, fraud, or legal obligation. Sections on Intellectual Property, Limitation of Liability, Dispute Resolution, and accrued transaction obligations survive termination.

11. Intellectual property

BuyorMeet, the BuyorMeet logo, and all software, designs, and compilation of content are owned by us and protected by IP laws. You may not copy, republish, or exploit them without written permission.

12. Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement to the fullest extent allowed by law.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted, BuyorMeet's aggregate liability for any claim arising from the Service is limited to the greater of $100 or the fees we received from you in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

14. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless BuyorMeet from claims arising out of your listings, transactions, or breach of these Terms.

15. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California. Disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of Los Angeles County, California, except where you have a legal right to file in your local jurisdiction.

16. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be announced on this page at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
